Old Business:
Ice Cream Machine-President Stern reported on his contact with suppliers regarding a used commercial ice cream machine. The cost would be approximately $6,000. Following club discussion, it was decided to rent a machine like we did last year. Lila Fechner will reserve the rental machine.
Pop cooler-Jim Grosz found a used pop cooler for the kitchen. The old one will be checked to see if it could be repaired.
Petting Zoo-we are still in need of animals.
Bouncy House-Dan Fechner reported that he has arranged for bouncy houses to be set up for the Fall Festival.
School House- President Stern contacted Mark Werning of the Parkston Historical Society regarding moving the school house from Parkston to the farm. President Stern told Mark to hold the donation money until we move the building. Jim Grosz talked with the Nicolaisen family about the cost of moving the school house. Jim will give an update at the next meeting.
Mitchell Rodeo Parade-Jay Larson reported that the Twin Rivers Old Iron Association entry earned a first-place trophy. Thanks to all who participated.
New Business:
Handouts-It was brought up that the 2020 show dates and featured tractor (Oliver) should be included on the gate handouts for this upcoming 2019 Fall Festival. Jon Bueber will work on getting the handouts printed.
Storm Damage-The late July wind storm caused a lot of damage to the farm. The roof was pulled off the bleachers causing extensive damage to the Villmow building. There was also damage to the kids barrel ride made by Ray C DeWald family. Also, half the roof on the Geidel building was removed. Tin was found east and south of the yard and across the road. It also caused damage to the sheep barn. The fan wheel and the tail of the windmill was damaged, several big cottonwood trees went down, and there was damage to the the PA system and several power poles. Insurance estimate was approximately $20,000.00 plus. Thanks to all who helped with clean up etc. There remains a lot to do before the show.
Material-The storm damaged tin is for sale. Contact president Stern if you are interested. The useable windmill parts will be kept. • Sale-A few people in the area community asked if we were going to have a consignment sale this year. Maybe October after the show would work as the yard is in good shape. Jon Bueber will contact the auctioneers and will report at the next meeting.
Donations-Marvin Northup donated milk/cream bottle collection and racks to the club. Also, a 4-wheel steel running gear. Jerry Heinert family donated a complete De Laval cream separator. Thank you.
Crops-No oats was planted because of the wet weather. The Daren Fechner family offered to donate a small patch of winter wheat to the club for threshing. The winter wheat is cut, loaded, and stored in the bundle shed for the show. A big thank you to the Daren Fechner Family for the donation. Soy beans, sweet corn and popcorn were planted on the farm acres. Thank you to Mike Fechner and Gerry Semmler for doing the tillage and planting. 2 Crops look good. The volunteer corn in part of the bean field was chopped/pulled by a few club members. Thank you. With no further business a motion by Jay Larson seconded by Mike Fechner to adjourn the meeting at 9:16. Because of the upcoming Fall Harvest Festival and Labor Day the next monthly meeting will be 7:30 PM Tuesday September 3 at the Black Sheep Bar & Grill in Delmont. The phone line will be used.
